A driver-focused, lightweight sports car – the latest chapter in a legendary story
The Mazda MX-5 is one of the most popular and well-known sports cars in the world. Its design has been recognised as a benchmark for other car manufacturers, and it’s still regarded as one of the most fun to drive.
The Mazda MX-5 is an icon when it comes to sports cars. It was originally released in 1989 with its goal being “to make driving enjoyable.” And that mission statement has stood true over time – every year since its release, there have been waves of new owners who get their first taste behind the wheel because they wanted a better driving experience.
The Mazda MX-5 is a true sports car that can be driven by anyone. It has an affordable price, and it’s fun to drive – blending reliability, style, and performance. Recently revamped for 2024, the latest model features design enhancements both inside and out. New LED headlights now incorporate daytime running lights, while the rear LED lights have also been redesigned. Inside, there is a new, larger colour touchscreen multimedia unit and an updated instrument panel.
USB-C ports have been introduced, and, as with the 2023 model, the MX-5 features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. From Exclusive Line upwards, the 2024 Mazda MX-5 also has a new frameless rear-view mirror, but the interior retains the same driver focused cabin and driving position. The range-topping Homura grade now features luxurious Recaro seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara.
There are eight models across the range – four Roadsters and four RF models. Each bodystyle comes in 3 different spec levels – Prime Line, Exclusive Line and Homura. Prime Line vehicles come with the 132ps 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine, while Exclusive Line models can either have the 1.5-litre or the 184ps 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine. The range-topping Homura is available exclusively with the 184ps engine.
